Technical properties

Regardless of the feedstock, all paraffinic fuels have the following properties:

The fact that paraffinic fuels can be seamlessly used in existing vehicles and infrastructure without modification or additional costs, and the fact that marine and aviation applications is also possible, means that these fuels are highly competitive. Moreover, their composition could allow for reduced maintenance and longer life-time of specific engine components.

CEN TS 15940 Classification

Paraffinic fuels are further defined in CEN TS 15940. The CEN TS 15940 Automotive fuels-Paraffinic diesel from synthesis or hydro-treatment-Requirements and test methods was successfully completed in September 2012. The technical specification apply to BTL, GTL and HVO.

The adopted CEN TS will be used on a voluntary basis for engine clearance, fuel acceptance and fuelling station allowance.
